My Story

The opportunity to witness nature throughout the four seasons is something very special and unique.  To observe nature in its glory, gives reason to pause and reflect, be humble and thankful and blessed by the bounty provided to us in the cycle of life.  From a fog shrouded sunrise or a marsh waking up in the morning, a roaring waterfall, sunlight creeping over a great  lake, or a majestic eagle flying overhead, nature provides peace and comfort in our world.

After 35 years working in the manufacturing world and wondering for sure what retirement would bring, I found it behind a camera with the opportunity to witness grandeur in nature that was often overlooked or forgotten in a hurried world.  I have been blessed by family and friends, both old and new and some from long ago through my photography.  Their support and comments have been very special and led me to pursue my passion with an even greater effort.

I am actively involved in conservation and my goal is to bring awareness to conservation through my photos. I have been a volunteer and major donor with Ducks Unlimited, the leader in wetlands conservation for 35 years, serving on local committees and as a state officer for many years including the current position of Marsh Chatter newsletter editor and state convention co-chairman.  I spend much of my time as a member of public policy team representing Ducks Unlimited at the Michigan Legislative Sportsman’s Caucus and working with state legislators on behalf of conservation. I recently became a member of the national public policy team where I will join with others from across the country to meet with our senators and representatives on behalf of conservation.

In addition to DU, I am a life member of MUCC (Michigan United Conservation Clubs), Pheasants Forever, and the Lansing Arts Council.

In January of this year, ten of my photos were placed on permanent display at the new Ducks Unlimited Regional headquarters in Dexter, Michigan.  A photographic essay and tribute to the 7 Michigan Wetland Wonders is currently in work with plans to publish a photographic essay in 18-24 months after a full cycle of seasons is photographed at each of the locations.  I have several upcoming magazine covers including the fall edition of Michigan Out-of-Door along with photos for conservation articles in Michigan and across the country.  Many of my photos have been used the past four years in the Michigan Ducks Unlimited calendar and will be featured in calendars in Texas, Oklahoma, and Michigan for 2019.
